Pink pink and more pink!!!

Ladies...it's spring! Revisit your normal makeup routine, take one thing and change it to a pink that suits your completion (there's a perfect shade of pink for everyone). You'll see a bright healthy natural glow that is just so pretty!

Ps...don't be intimidated by how a color looks in the palette. It may look too bright but it's all about how you apply it! Trust me on this!

Sweetest Things - The Best of DailyCandy 2008

Sweetest Things - The Best of DailyCandy 2008

One of my favorite and defining moments was when I was one of three nominated for "best of DC" two months after being featured in DailyCandy.  I decieded then that after freelancing for 12 years in the makeup industry,  I could do it on my own and put all my effort and energy into my career. It was the best thing I ever did :)

Batt those lashes girl!!

So...we all rush to buy the latest mascara because it's the hottest new thing!  As a makeup artist I find myself using different mascaras on different clients.

Here are a few tips
~if you have to work too hard to apply the mascara it's not the right one for you!
~compare the bristles on the wand to your own lashes...it whould almost match. Then you'll get a  better application with more results.
~start at the bottom and hold it there for a second, it creates the illusion of a thicker lashline
~lightly wiggle side to side as you go up, it coates each lash more evenly for better volume
~use the very tip of the mascara wand (so it faces the tip of your lashes) and lightly go across for length.

Brows Brows Brows!!!

Let’s talk about eyebrows

Welcome to my beauty blog. As a makeup artist, I look at brows as a bare necessity, like your moisturizer or deodorant, like guys needing their haircut every few weeks. I don't particularly follow any rules, but there are some do's and don'ts when it comes to eyebrows.

SHAPING...Always go for the most flattering, natural brow shape possible. I recommend seeing a reputable brow specialist, even one or two times. Most likely, the artist will set the tone and get your brow shape in the right direction so that maintenance will be easier. I know it's not easy to trust anyone with your brows the first time, so ask for a consultation before any waxing or tweezing is done. I give every single first time client one by having them hold the mirror as I explain what I recommend.

MAINTAINING... Ladies, if you are “tweezer happy”, STOP!!! I've worked with countless women who over tweezed for years, or maybe a long time ago. It weakens the hair follicles and your brows eventually fall out, even where you don't pluck! Bad wax job? It happens all the time. Most of the time hair grows back with a little patience and consistency. I prefer not to wax or thread, I sculpt brows by tweezing and trimming. It's simply mistake proof!

FILLING IN...My favorite part! There's nothing more attractive on a woman's face than well groomed brows. The last thing I do in all my brow sessions is fill in (if necessary) with the correct brow products while my client watches. Know that pencils, powders, gel, etc...All deliver different results. Let a professional show you how to select colors to best match the hair on your brows, not your head.
